Nothing new

At least for a little bit. I'm seeding stuff over at waffles.fm in order to get my ratio back up, because I downloaded a ton of new music in order to determine the best records of 2007. I'm in the process of listening to everything and trying to rank it all. Once that's done, I'll upload my favorite albums of the year and post them here on the first of January. I'd like to know all of your favorite records as well, so I don't miss anything good. Leave me suggestions in the comments to this post.

I won't have any invites for quite a while, but once I get some, I'm sure I can probably hook you up. Send an e-mail to notesareshattered@gmail.com, and I'll let you know once I get one for you.

Wanted to mention the Boxer, but that's already been done (thank you, Sir). Sound of Silver seems to come up a lot, but is already on most people's radar. Nevertheless, Someone Great may be one of the best songs this year.

Latest Modest Mouse has been kicking around my Mp3-player for half a year as well. Good stuff.

I've got Sound of Silver, but haven't listened to it yet. I'll probably give it a listen today.

I sort of liked the new Modest Mouse, but... I don't know. This is going to sound so snobby, but I thought a lot of it was overproduced. Everything sounded way too shimmery and slick. I really wanted to like it, because I honestly love everything else they've ever recorded. There were some good songs, but overall it just didn't hit me the way their other albums have.

I listened to about half of the new Jimmy Eat World, and liked what I heard. Don't know if it'll make my top albums, but it's certainly not bad.

Couldn't get into Young Love, though.

My friend and I were recently talking about how modern society has evolved to become so integrated with technology. Reading this post makes me think back to that discussion we had, and just how inseparable from electronics we have all become.

I don't mean this in a bad way, of course! Societal concerns aside... I just hope that as technology further develops, the possibility of uploading our memories onto a digital medium becomes a true reality. It's one of the things I really wish I could encounter in my lifetime.
